When LeBron James was a rookie in 2003, he did an interview with BET and said that Kevin Garnett was the best player in the NBA during that time.
This was five years before Garnett joined the Boston Celtics and went on to win Defensive Player of the Year during his first season in Boston.
Garnett won the NBA MVP Award in 2004, while still a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves. You’ll see in this video resonating from 20 years ago now, that LeBron didn’t even hesitate to say KG was the best player in the league.
20 years later, Garnett saw this video and made a comment on it.
Garnett averaged 24.2 points, 13.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.17 blocks, and 1.46 steals while starting in all 82 games during his 2004 MVP season.
