Boston Celtics: Jayson Tatum reads defense to get to the rim vs Indiana

Jayson Tatum finished Friday night against the Pacers with 34-points on 13-of-24 shooting for the night, also adding seven rebounds and two assists, as the Boston Celtics defeated Indiana to the tune of a 25-point blowout victory.

Tatum, who’s been struggling to hit his 3-point shots since the All-Star break, connecting only 29.4 percent, was able to get into the restricted area and make 10-of-13 shots overall from that zone.

Here’s what Tatum said about attacking the paint against Indiana on Friday night.

“Just reading the defense, taking what they’re giving. Indiana, they’ve got Myles Turner, but they’re not like a big team, so just finding angle and trying to get to the rim.”

With Tatum struggling to connect from behind the arc, perhaps he should search to drive and attack rather than shoot the three-ball as often as he does every game, even if it means going against head coach Joe Mazzulla’s philosophy.
