When the Celtics acquired Malcolm Brogdon, he had a pretty good understanding of the overall dynamics of the team; Marcus Smart is the starting point guard alongside two All-Star players in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who are two of the best basketball players in the world.
Looking at the team from afar, you’d think the overall leaders of the Celtics would be Tatum and Brown. Although you wouldn’t be wrong, you have to be up close to the team to see that Al Horford is the true leader of the Celtics.
We’ve heard it countless times from Smart, Tatum, and Brown that when Al speaks, you listen. He’s the most experienced player on the team, even more so than the head coach, as Al is older than Joe Mazzulla by a couple of years.
Brogdon spoke to the media today as the C’s prepare to host Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday. He shared that the practice “felt loose” and Al had to step in and get the guys in line.
Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals will be at the TD Garden on Wednesday at 8:30 PM.
