Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Dan Shaughnessy informs Celtics fans that Boston isn’t a destination for stars

On Friday evening, Dan Shaughnessy of The Boston Globe joined NBC Sports Boston’s Early Edition to discuss various things surrounding Boston sports.

When the group focused on the Celtics, he left the fans with one clear message about the city moving forward.

Shaughnessy believes that Boston is not a free agent destination.

When you really think about it, why wouldn’t a top free agent want to join the Celtics?

They’re consistently contending for championships and are still only a piece away from winning it all. So perhaps a top star or free agent could be the piece they need.

Over the years, the Celtics were able to land on Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Al Horford, Gordon Hayward, Kyrie Irving, and more recently, the trade for Malcolm Brogdon.

Clearly, it doesn’t necessarily have to do with the team and has everything to do with Boston as a city not being as sexy as LA, Miami, or even Phoenix.

What do you think: Is Boston a free agent destination? And if not why?
