The Celtics can address a few of their team needs in the upcoming NBA Draft by selecting the poised and polished Marcus Sasser out of Houston.
Sasser is a four-year starter who became a starter during his freshman season en route to becoming one of the best shooters and scorers in school history.
In his four-year career, Sasser played in 107 games with 93 starts, averaging 13.6 points per game on 40.6 percent shooting from the field and 36.9 percent of his 3-pointers.
Sasser finished his college career scoring 1,458 points (15th in school history) and made 274 3-pointers (1st in school history), along with being named a First-Team All-American, AAC Player of the Year, and winning the Jerry West Award in 2023.
What’s great about Sasser is that he is a legitimate Three-and-D player. He averaged 1.3 steals per game for his career, contributing to his 88.4 defensive rating, which ranks 18th out of 857 qualified Division I players.
The Celtics need to hit on someone in the draft who can contribute sooner than later. Sasser is the most polished player in the entire draft who can spread the floor, open scoring lanes, and create for others on the floor.
Sasser would be a great addition off the bench for the Celtics in this upcoming season.
If he’s there at No. 35, the Celtics need to draft him.
