Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Kevin O’ Connor suggests Celtics sign-and-trade Grant Williams and draft this player

The Boston Celtics currently have the No. 35 overall pick in the NBA Draft. But The Ringer’s Kevin O’ Connor is uncertain if Boston will use that pick in a potential trade or keep it as their only selection this year.

“Sources say the Celtics are exploring ways to bolster the roster, whether it’s a sign-and-trade involving Grant Williams during free agency or something consolidating their plethora of guards.”

There’s already been multiple reports showing that the Indiana Pacers having real interest in giving Grant an offer sheet in restricted free agency. I’m sure there will be more, as you’d be hard pressed to find a team who wouldn’t want Grant on it.

Last season, Grant averaged 8.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game on 45/39/77 shooting splits. His defensive versatility is the appealing part to Grant’s game.

If Boston keeps the 35th pick, KOC sees Jamie Jaquez Jr. being a great fit for the Celtics after an elite four-year career at UCLA.

“Jaquez would become an instant fan favorite as a glue guy with playmaking feel and hard-nosed defense.”

Jaquez averaged 13.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, and two assists per game with shooting splits of 47/33/74 in 134 career games with 126 starts during his time at UCLA.

2022-23 season averages: 17.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists on 48/32/77 splits.
