Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Brad Stevens breaks down what Jordan Walsh brings to the Celtics

After Brad Stevens did his best Bill Belichick draft-day dance, the Boston Celtics finally made their selection in the second round by drafting Jordan Walsh out of Arkansas with the 38th overall pick.

Walsh is only 19-years-old, 6-foot-7 and 205 lbs. with 36 games under his belt in his career that saw 22 starts. He averaged 7.1 points per game on 43.3 percent shooting from the field.

Boston’s rookie is already “ahead on defense” as Stevens mentions during his post-draft interview on into the early hours on Friday morning.

He needs to improve other elements of his offensive game from outside the box, mainly shooting, as he only hit 27.8 percent of his 3-point shots.

Walsh finished his lone college season with 141 total rebounds, 40 steals, 33 assists, and 17 blocks in 2022-23.

Walsh will likely be on a two-way contract with the Maine Celtics as a rookie, but don’t be surprised to see him get some run in Boston at various times throughout the season.
