Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

The Celtics are interested in free agent combo G/F Terence Davis

The Boston Celtics have been active since their season ended in the Eastern Conference Finals in 2022-23 as Brad Stevens is already retooling and rebuilding his team.

A player on Stevens’ radar is Terrence Davis as Sacramento Kings play-by-play announcer for ESPN Mark Jones reports:

At 6-foot-4, Davis is a combo guard/wing who spent the last two and a half seasons with the Sacramento Kings after being traded by the Toronto Raptors during the 2020-21 season.

Davis has played a majority of his career as a two or a three, averaging 52 percent at the two and 43 percent at the three in his four-year career.

He’s consistent on the court, averaging 43.4 percent from the field on 6.7 attempts for his career and 36.6 percent from behind the arc on 3.8 attempts per game and a true shooting percentage of 56.4.

The Celtics don’t have much room to play with financially to remain under the second tax apron, so a large offer to Davis isn’t likely, but a smaller deal with an option isn’t out of the question to join a contending team.

Davis has also gained interest from the Dallas Mavericks, Milwaukee Bucks and the Raptors where he began his NBA career.

Since their season ended, Boston has traded Marcus Smart while adding Kristaps Porzingis and made their first free agent signing with Oshae Brissett.
