Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Celtics land in Group C for NBA In-Season Tournament

The NBA has finalized all of the logistics for their first ever in-season tournament that’ll be debuted this season on November 30.

The groups were created by separating both conferences into five different tiers based on last year’s regular season standings.

The tiers will looks like this:

Tier 1 includes the teams that finished 1-3: Bucks, Celtics, 76ers.

Tier 2 includes teams that finished 4-6: Cavaliers, Knicks, Nets.

Tier 3 includes teams that finished 7-9: Hawks, Heat, Raptors.

Tier 4 includes teams that finished 10-12: Bulls, Pacers, Wizards.

Tier 5 includes teams that finished 13-15: Magic, Hornets, Pistons.

Each conference tier will then be randomly selected into three groups- three from the East and three from the West.

Each team in a group will play each other one time for a total of four games— two at home and two on the road— which will be played on Tuesdays and Thursday’s in November and count as tournament games.

The teams that have the best group record after those four games will move on to the next round, while the two next best teams will play in a wildcard round.

The knockout round will feature an eight-team single elimination style for the first ever NBA Cup that’ll be played in Las Vegas on December 9.

The Boston Celtics landed in Group C, which includes the Nets, Raptors, Bulls, and Magic.

This is still fresh and will take some time to get used to, but the in-season tournament is now a real thing in the NBA.

The Celtics will play in Group C.
