The Miami Heat announced that they signed Justin Champagnie to an Exhibit-10 deal that’ll keep him in Miami through training camp after he was waived by the Boston Celtics after signing a non-guaranteed contract for this year.
If Champagnie was still on Boston’s roster on Aug. 1, he would’ve been guaranteed $50,000 and worked his way up to near $1 million if he was still with the Celtics by January.
It’s pretty clear that Boston didn’t see the need for him otherwise they likely would’ve kept him around for under $1 million.
Champagnie has an opportunity to earn more money than a typical Exhibit-10 as he can also earn a bonus from that if he ends up playing for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Miami’s GLeague team, for a possible $75,000.
The addition of Champagnie gives Miami 21 players on their training camp roster.
In a short stint in Boston, Champagnie saw two regular season games and four in the playoffs during his time in Boston.
