Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Celtics sign 7-foot forward Kylor Kelley to Exhibit-10 Deal

The Boston Celtics continue to add to their roster after already trading for Kristaps Porzingis in the beginning of the offseason and Jrue Holiday at the end, however it was at the expense of Marcus Smart, Robert Williams, and Malcolm Brogdon.

Kylor Kelley is a 7-foot forward who went undrafted in 2020 out of Oregon State. He played 62 games at Oregon State, averaging 9.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game and holds a career field goal percentage of 62.4 percent.

After going undrafted, Kelley was in the G League and also played in Canada, Denmark and London.

Kelley most recently played for the Calgary Surge, averaging 4.7 points per game on 63 percent shooting from the floor. He also added 3.7 total rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in 15 games.

As you can see from the Tweet above, Kelley didn’t shoot 3’s in college and it transferred over into his professional career. But his play style doesn’t need him to be a shooter, as he plays with energy above the rim.

Kelley is an above the rim player. He is a lob threat and enjoys putting in work in the post and maneuvers around the court well. While watching film of him playing for London, I noticed a similar style and energy to his game that was reminiscent of Robert Williams.

The next step from here is for Kelley to try to standout during training camp to potentially earn a spot in Boston or in Maine within the Celtics organization.
