Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama pulled off Celtics’ big man Luke Kornet’s ‘Kornet Kontest’ in preseason game

Boston Celtics third-string center Luke Kornet brought a different style of contesting 3-pointers to the NBA when he landed back in Boston in 2022.

At 7-foot-2, Kornet believes that he can alter a shot by blocking the view of the basket by jumping straight in the air with his hands raised above his head. In theory, this method should work as a shooter can’t see the basket when he’s about to let it rip, however, NBA shooters are muscle memory when it comes to their shot, so there’s many indifferent results on doing this.

A player who isn’t indifferent on the “Kornet’s Kontest” is San Antonio Spurs rookie big man Victor Wembanyama, who is listed at 7-foot-4 and has an 8-foot wingspan.

In his second preseason game on Friday night against the Miami Heat, Wembanyama pulled off what we all know as the “Kornet Kontest”.

It’s worth mentioning that Wembanyama will be the tallest player in the NBA, Kristaps Porzingis is one the second tallest, and Kornet is one of the third tallest players in the NBA this season.

The Celtics will play the Spurs on New Year’s Eve in San Antonio for the first time of the 2023-24 season.
