Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Kristaps Porzingis is honored to be on the Celtics

Boston Celtics star big man trade acquisition Kristaps Porzingis hasn’t stopped smiling since he became part of the historic franchise.

Porzingis understands the unique opportunity he has with this Celtics team. To start, it’s the most talented team he’s ever been part of in his career.

He also understands the Celtics traded away a player that meant everything to this team and the city in Marcus Smart.

Porzingis has a sense of pride in the fact that he’s on the Celtics. He’s saying all of the right things, including taking “sacrifices” to be part of a winning team.

“At this point in my career, this is what I really wanted, to be able to try to win it all. Especially wearing these colors and this organization, which is, as I keep saying, if not the most iconic than top two most iconic franchises there are. And I’m playing for this team. So it’s absolutely incredible. An incredible opportunity for me, and I’m just grateful for it all.”

Just like Porzingis, the Celtics are also ready to finally raise Banner 18 this season and having Porzingis enhances their chances of doing so.

The Celtics have also traded for Jrue Holiday and hired two of the top assistant coaches to join head coach Joe Mazzulla’s staff and most recently hiring a top-level consultant in Jeff Van Gundy to oversee some of the basketball operations in Boston and in Maine.

One last thing. I was at the preseason opener when Porzingis was introduced for the first time as a Celtic in what felt like a sold out TD Garden, his reaction said it all about the mutual feeling the fans have about him being in Boston.
