Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Erik Spoelstra already notices new-look Celtics this year

The Boston Celtics have continuously been in the playoffs since the 2014-15 season. Over the last nine-years, the Celtics have a 63-59 record in the playoffs while going to five Eastern Conference Finals with one Finals appearance.

There has been one team consistently in the mix with Boston during this time and that is none other than the Miami Heat. The two teams have met in the Conference Finals in three out of the last four seasons while sparking a new rivalry between each other.

After Boston’s home opener against Miami, the Celtics won 111-119 to advance to 2-0 to start the season, Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said that it’s been a privilege to play against the Celtics in the playoffs and that this is a different team.

“They’re different. Like I mentioned in pregame, we’ve been at this with them for four years since the bubble. It really has been a privilege to face them in the playoffs so many times. But both teams have changed. That’s the way this league goes, that’s the way life goes.”

It’s always a battle when Boston and Miami play. These two teams are so in tune with each other and it ends up becoming not only a battle between the players on the court, but also for between the coaches on the sidelines in Joe Mazzulla and Spoelstra.

The Celtics and Heat will play two more times in the regular season, the second game is on Jan. 25 and the third is on Feb. 11, both in Miami.
