Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Who is sacrificing the most on the Celtics this season?

The Boston Celtics are sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 9-2 record and have the best six-man lineup in the NBA. In order to get to this point, however, there’s been many sacrifices by the players, which we heard all offseason would be the case.

There’s been many sacrifices through the first 11 games of the season. Al Horford is coming off the bench for the first time in his career. Jrue Holiday is taking the least amount of shots since his rookie season. And Derrick White is often overlooked on offense but still impacts the game in other ways if it’s not his scoring night.

In fact, with Kristaps Porzingis and Jaylen Brown both out on Wednesday against the Philadelphia 76ers, White had more opportunities to shoot and he didn’t disappoint. In a very efficient game, White finished with 27-points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor with 4-of-8 coming from behind the arc. He also added three rebounds and five assists.

Everyone is happy to sacrifice a little bit for the betterment of the team, but is Derrick White sacrificing more than most? John Karalis on the Locked On Celtics Podcast believes that the Celtics aren’t using White to the best of his abilities and that he’s a better player than what Boston is asking of him.

This was, in my opinion, the best podcast episode from Karalis this season and arguably all year dating back to last, mostly due to how well he articulated the potential of White.

I agree with Karalis on every level of his statement, although I do believe that being on the Celtics has only accentuated White’s overall game. I hope he’s in Boston for a long time.
