The Boston Celtics left Toronto with a 108-105 victory off the hands of a Derrick White made game-winning 3-pointer. It wasn’t a pretty win by any means, which head coach Joe Mazzulla said his team wasn’t the best version of themselves.
“I thought we did a good job tonight but I thought it was one of our lesser performances. And it was the first time all year we just weren’t the best version of ourselves. That’s going to happen, especially with 70 games left. But I liked the way we just chipped away at it. We had to learn a lot of stuff in that game, and we haven’t had that this year. So it was good that we were able to go through that.”
White, who hit the game-winner, also thought the Celtics were playing with a missing gear.
“I kind of felt like we didn’t really have that extra gear, or that gear that we’ve been playing with for the year so far.”
The Celtics were up 16-points at halftime and lost it throughout the second half. Jaylen Brown said after the game that the team just kept playing through it all and ended up with the win.
“I think we just kept playing, played all the way through. We didn’t play our best, but we figured out how to win anyway.”
Boston’s next game is in Memphis on Sunday night.
