Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Boston Celtics rank atop the NBA in rebounding

The Boston Celtics average 47.1 rebounds per game, which ranks second in the NBA. They rank first in defensive rebounding with 36.7 per game on that end of the court, which is an indication they’re not allowing many second chance opportunities.

Jayson Tatum leads Boston with 8.7 rebounds per game, Jrue Holiday with 7.2, and Kristaps Porzingis with 6.7. It’s truly a team effort as the entire rotation is contributing with boards, Al Horford 6.7, Neemias Queta with 5.7, Jaylen Brown 4.9, Derrick White 3.9, Sam Hauser 3.5, Luke Kornet 3.4, and Payton Pritchard 3.2.

The Celtics only grab 10.3 offensive rebounds per game, which ranks 20th in the NBA. Most of Boston’s rebounds are defensive, which the Celtics ranks first in with 36.7 per game. This shows Boston doesn’t allow teams to get many second chance opportunities but they also don’t get many themselves.
