Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Danny Ainge is a big fan of what Brad Stevens has done with Celtics

The Boston Celtics have the best record in the NBA (19-5) and are the only undefeated team on their home court this season (13-0) through the first 24 games of the season.

GM Brad Stevens upgraded his team from top to bottom during the offseason. He acquired Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday, and veteran coaches to support head coach Joe Mazzulla in his second season as head coach but his first full offseason as one.

During a pregame interview on NBC Sports Boston on Friday, former Celtics GM Danny Ainge joined the show and expressed how well Stevens has done with the Celtics.

“He’s done an amazing job. They have good coaching, great management, great ownership, great players. Celtics top to bottom are sitting pretty in this league right now. They have shooting, maybe the best shooting in the NBA.”

Ainge hired Stevens in 2013 during Boston’s rebuild to be the team’s next head coach. He then drafted Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum in back-to-back years in 2016 and 2017. It’s fair to say Ainge left the Celtics in good condition when he retired and then became the CEO of basketball operations for the Utah Jazz six months later.

Ainge may have built the core of this team, but Stevens has redesigned the Celtics and made it his own.
