The Boston Celtics defeated the Indiana Pacers 118-101 on the second night of a back-to-back in what was a good old fashioned game for the Jays, as Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown took complete control of this game.
Tatum and Brown combined for 69-points on 27-of-43 shooting from the field, 17 rebounds, seven assists, one block, and one steal in this game. The Celtics are 23-2 all-time when both of the Jays score over 30-points each.
This game featured an early exit from Kristaps Porzingis due to an eye injury received in the first quarter. This game also saw a ton of foul trouble from key players in Boston’s rotation, not to mention the Celtics didn’t attempt any free throws in the first half.
But it was Brown who powered a second half defensive stance that shutdown the Pacers and more specifically, Tyrese Haliburton, the NBA’s leader in assists this season.
When Brown plays high-level defense next to Derrick White, Jrue Holiday and Jayson Tatum, it’s not going to be easy for the opposing team’s offense to make plays and we saw that in this game as the Pacers are on a historic offensive run this season.
Not even the NBA’s top offense could handle this level of defense from Boston.
