Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Ime Udoka said his former Celtics players were not left in the dark about his firing

It’s been nearly 500 days since the Boston Celtics relieved former head coach Ime Udoka from his duties shortly after the Celtics lost the 2022 NBA Finals.

On Saturday, it was Udoka’s first time back at the TD Garden since the firing, resurfacing old memories and finally getting some clarity on what was happening within the team during that time.

We were all led on to believe that the players didn’t know anything and were more or less left in the dark about it all. However, in a pregame press conference, Udoka shared that wasn’t exactly true.

“I would say they lied to you guys, they knew, some of them knew. Obviously I could talk to them, they wouldn’t share stuff publicly… who needed to know, knew.”

After the game, John Karalis of the Locked on Celtics Podcast, had a very weird interaction with Jayson Tatum during his postgame press conference when trying to ask if he walked down the hall when leaving the locker room to see Udoka after the game.

Tatum playfully beat around the bush with Karalis before finally saying that he was walking to the family room to go see his son.

At the end of Tatum’s press conference, he said that this game didn’t mean anything extra to him because it’s Udoka and the Rockets. He just wanted to get back on track after getting spanked by Milwaukee in their previous game.
