Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Boston Celtics bench is getting the job done this season

The Boston Celtics bench and secondary unit has been excellent this season.

The three main components to the bench unit are Al Horford, Payton Pritchard, and Sam Hauser. They’re all averaging over 21 minutes per game and scoring at least 7.7 points per game.

Over the last six games, the bench has been on fire, scoring 194-points on 75-of-146 shooting from the field (51.3%) and a total plus-minus of +173.

After Boston’s last game, the bench is now a league-best +137 and is just one of three bench units over +100 this season.

In addition to Horford, Pritchard, and Hauser, the bench also includes large contributions by Luke Kornet, Oshae Brissett, and Neemias Queta.

In the last game against the Lakers, the Celtics bench almost propelled them to a win during a game that head coach Joe Mazzulla benched three starters at the beginning of the second half due to poor effort.

The bench has single handedly kept Boston in games and brought them back into games that they may have otherwise lost this season.

They’ve been excellent.
