Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Boston Celtics trade for F/C Xavier Tillman

The Boston Celtics did exactly what GM Brad Stevens said he’d like to do: acquire a versatile “big wing” at the trade deadline.

To complete the trade, the Celtics are sending Lamar Stevens and two future second round picks to the Memphis Grizzlies for versatile big man, Xavier Tillman.

Tillman is a great addition to Boston’s bench and he provides a role along the wing position that Boston just doesn’t have, despite trying it out with Oshae Brissett and Lamar Stevens.

The addition will also have an impact on Luke Kornet’s minutes and it likely means Neemias Queta won’t be converted to a standard deal by the March deadline for two-way players.

Tillman is inked for $1,930,681 for 2023-24 and is set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2024.

He’s exactly what Brad Stevens wanted.
