The Boston Celtics are shooting more 3-pointers per game than any other team in the NBA at a 42.8 per game clip this season, connecting on 37.7%, which is just slightly under the best average in the NBA of 39.9%.
Over the last four games, Boston has shot under their season average in each game to start the month of February (all home games):
- 16-of-48 (33.3%) vs Lakers
- 19-of-51 (37.3%) vs Grizzlies
- 17-of-49 (34.7%) vs Hawks
- 11-of-34 (32.4%) vs Wizards
In the Celtics most recent game against the Wizards, it was a very slow start from behind the arc. The C’s finished the first quarter shooting 3-of-13, the second quarter 1-of-6, the third quarter 5-of-10, and the fourth quarter 2-of-5 from behind the arc.
It’s been a while since the Celtics have shot well consistently from deep as a team: On Jan. 25, they shot 55% against the Heat. On Jan. 27, they shot 25% against the Clippers. On Jan. 29, they shot 37% against the Pelicans. And on Jan. 30, they shot 47.2% against the Pacers to end the month.
The Celtics have shot under the average for 3-point shooting percentage in the NBA this season at 36.8% in three out of their last four games to start the month of February. Individually has been quite spotty as well during the four games this month:
- Jrue Holiday, 42.9%
- Sam Hauser, 37.5%
- Derrick White, 37.0%
- Al Horford, 36.4%
- Jayson Tatum, 35.6%
- Payton Pritchard, 30.0%
- Jaylen Brown, 0%
Boston has three games left before the All-Star break. I’m sure they’re looking to get back on track in all areas on the court, but this will be a much deserved and well earned break for the team during the All-Star weekend.
