Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Maine Celtics Jordan Jackson is the son of a WNBA legend

Maine Celtics guard Jordan Jackson put on a show in Indiana by winning the dunk contest for the G League. He had a handful of flashy and impressive dunks, jumping over multiple people at once and landing a 180-degree dunk to end the night and name him champion.

One of Jackson’s dunks that caught my eye the most was his second one of the night. He did a fullcourt windmill-dunk ending in a powerful slam while honoring his mom by wearing her legendary Houston Comets basketball jersey.

Jackson’s mother is the legend Sheryl Swoopes, who’s one of the greatest players in WNBA history. She’s a three-time champion, four-time MVP, three-time Defensive Player of the Year, and a six-time All-Star. Swoopes also led the league in scoring and steals twice in her career.

The WNBA recognizes her as a top-15 player in the league. She’s only 1-of-11 players to have won an Olympic gold medal, an NCAA championship, a FIBA World Cup, and a WNBA title. Swoopes was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016 and into the women’s Hall of Fame in 2017.

When Jackson won the dunk contest, Swoopes was on the court to celebrate with her son and it was a very cool moment to see.

Jackson is only 26-years-old and still has some room to grow in his game. But with basketball literally in his blood, and playing for a great program in Maine with the Celtics, Jordan has the tools to become a great player of his own and follow in his mother’s footsteps by having a career in basketball.
