The Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night to the tune of a 28-point blowout, recording their 10th straight win, in a total and complete team effort.
Jayson Tatum finished the game with 32-points, which he scored 21-of them in the second half, logging 10-of-19 shooting from the field and 5-of-9 from behind the arc while adding a team-high eight rebounds and three assists. It was a slow start for Tatum but he allowed the game to come to him and was patient during that time leading to his second half takeover.
Jaylen Brown had another great game, scoring 25-points on 11-of-20 shooting from the floor with seven rebounds, five assists, and zero turnovers. He once again took on the challenge on the defensive end by guarding Luka Doncic throughout the game, further pushing his All-Defensive status for this season. This was the seventh consecutive game that Brown has scored at least 18-points.
The rest of the team performed well in this one too. Kristaps Porzingis unloaded 24-points on 8-of-14 shooting. Derrick White was very quietly nearing a triple double, finishing with 13-points, seven rebounds, and eight assists. Jrue Holiday is leading the NBA in corner 3-point shooting, which he hit all three of his attempts from while adding seven assists and two steals.
Xavier Tillman played 15-minutes and got extended run in this game, which meant that Luke Kornet did not, in fact Kornet didn’t play at all in this blowout victory. Tillman made all three of his shots, scoring six-points and added one rebound and two assists. He was a plus-minus +13, which was the second-highest on the bench behind Al Horford (+21) and they join the starters as the only players with a double-digit plus-minus.
Other notes and takeaways from this game:
- Sam Hauser didn’t score at all in this game, which has only happened four times this season and the first since Jan. 19 against the Denver Nuggets. Hauser finished with four rebounds and an assist on Friday night’s blowout.
- Payton Pritchard played well on both ends. He’s consistently doing what he does well, finished with 10-points on 4-of-7 shooting.
- Oshae Brissett hasn’t played meaningful minutes since Feb. 14 against Brooklyn.
- Luke Kornet didn’t play, earning his first DNPCD since Dec. 28.
