Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Celtics sign Neemias Queta to multi-year contract

The Boston Celtics converted Neemias Queta’s two-way contract into an NBA standard deal, making him the 15th man and playoff eligible on Boston’s roster.

Queta has been with Boston for most of the season. He’s played in 26-games but he’s been on the bench for 46-games this season, nearing the 50-game limit of a two-way contract.

In 26-games, he’s averaging 4.6 points on 61.4 percent shooting, 4.1 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks in 11.4 minutes per game. Queta’s 1.8 offensive rebounds per game is second on the team only behind Luke Kornet.

Queta is the fifth center on Boston’s roster now to provide additional frontcourt depth behind Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, Kornet, and Xavier Tillman.

There’s been multiple reports on the details of Tillman’s contract. But it’s worth mentioning that the Celtics have recently upgraded a two-way contract for Sam Hauser, which initially was for two-years but they reworked the deal in the offseason to a three-year deal with a team option.

Queta’s depth is needed for this frontcourt this season.
