Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Grant Williams makes return to TD Garden, hopes for video tribute

Former Boston Celtics forward Grant Williams is making his return to the TD Garden for the first time since being traded in the offseason to the Dallas Mavericks, who’ve also traded him to the Charlotte Hornets this season.

Williams had a weird experience during his first four years in Boston. He was a player that the team developed but never really formed a relationship with the fans and they’ve let him hear it over the years.

According to Celtics play-by-play broadcaster Mike Gorman recently said that Williams was a “annoying” and a “bad locker room guy” on a morning interview with Toucher and Hardy on 98.5.

Williams caught up with some local media this morning ahead of shoot-around. He told them that he saw the video tributes to other former teammates who’ve returned this season, with a smile as if to suggest he hopes that he gets one as well.

Williams also told Bobby Manning of CLNS that he hopes to get a good reception from the TD Garden crowd.

Celtics fans cannot discount his seven made 3-pointers in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2022 playoffs, which eventually led to a trip to the Finals.

There were some great moments and some not so great moments for Grant during his time in Boston. But it’s fair to say that we all want to see him have a great career.
