In January of 2023, Boston Medical Center established the Curbside Care Mobile Unit that is designed to support pediatric and midwifery services for mothers and their babies, funded by the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation.
Derrick White has been a contributor since the beginning. In fact, he was at the ribbon cutting ceremony during its inception last year and is a dedicated service member for the program.

White will often roll around with the mobile care unit to show up to people’s front doors with essential supplies and to make sure that local mothers are getting the proper treatment for themselves and their babies postpartum.
The Curbside Care program was created due to a problematic statistic that showed 40% of new mothers never return for their postpartum appointments and its likely linked to transportation and childcare. The Curbside Care brings services directly to its patients at their home.
The BMC usually gifts parents a stroller that comes with a gift bag of diapers, wipes, and some clothing to help support their families.
White continues to support the BMC and the Curbside Care program. He’s an advocate for being a good person in this world, as we’ve seen him promote many times this season in a hat or sweatshirt.
