Boston Celtics longtime play-by-play television broadcaster Mike Gorman has put together a legendary 43-year career calling games for the Celtics.
In that time, Gorman has called over three thousand games for the Celtics. He’s been part of three championship seasons, including just his third one on the job in 1984.
Let’s take a look at the first game Gorman called in 1981, the season after Boston just won the championship.
On November 6, 1981, the Celtics hosted the Indiana Pacers at the Boston Garden, winning 111-94. Larry Bird scored 28-points, grabbed 14-rebounds, made four assists, two steals, and three blocks. He only attempted one 3-pointer and missed.
Tiny Archibald scored 16-points, Cedric Maxwell had 12-points and six rebounds, and Robert Parish had 10-points and six rebounds.
Kevin McHale was in his second season, still coming off the bench. He scored seven-points and had 10-rebounds in 24 minutes.

This was the first season of Mike and Tommy.
