Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Derrick White has a career game, Celtics win in Game 4

The Boston Celtics defeated the Miami Heat in Game 4 of this first round playoff series 102-88 on Monday in Miami, with the Celtics taking a 3-1 lead with the series shifting back to Boston for Game 5.

Derrick White led the way for the Celtics with a game-high 38-points, four rebounds, three assists, and four blocks. He connected on eight 3-pointers and finished 15-of-26 overall from the floor.

The most noticeable takeaway was how confident he was with letting it fly from deep. White put up 15 total shots from deep, connecting on 53.3 percent from behind the arc. All eight that he made were attempted from at least 25-feet out with the longest being from 28-feet.

White produced this scoring output without any free throw attempts, which is the second-most points scored in a playoff game without taking any free throws (Chuck Person, 39-points, 1991).

The Celtics are unstoppable when White has a game like this. Between Jayson Tatum (20) and Jaylen Brown (17) and White (38), Boston has 75-points between three players in a game that barely broke 100-points.

White is a do-it-all player and he takes pride in that. He’s been an asset for the Celtics since the trade went through at the 2022 trade deadline.
