Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Kristaps Porzingis is ‘walking perfectly fine’ after Game 1, returns to Celtics practice

Boston Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis has missed the last two games with a right calf strain after leaving Game 4 against Miami in the first round.

Directly after that game, Porzingis was spotted walking on his own power, although with a walking boot on his right foot, while leaving the Kaseya Center.

Two days later, Porzingis was seen leaving the TD Garden walking on his own power without a walking boot.

During postgame of Game 1 of the Semifinals, NBC Sports Boston’s Chris Forsberg said he saw Porzingis walking “perfectly fine” after the game, saying that he feels “confident” in Porzingis whenever it is he makes his return to the court.

In a recent interview, and with a little smile, Porzingis said that he’s “hoping to return at a historic rate.”

Head coach Joe Mazzulla also said the injury isn’t as bad as initially thought, which leads me to wonder how severe the injury is. Boston might very well be able to coast through the second round of the playoffs without needing Porzingis.

That said, Porzingis just started doing on-court work for the first time in nine-days at practice on Wednesday.

Ideally, giving Porzingis as much time and rest as possible is key for the Celtics right now. If they can get by without using him and rely on their depth, Boston will be in a great position for when Porzingis does return.
