Before Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Sam Hauser was 1-of-14 shooting from behind the arc over his last four games, but the Celtics believed in their guy- one of the best shooters in the league- and he showed up for them in the Finals when it matters most.
Hauser finished the season averaging 42.4 percent from behind on the arc but he’s dropped in the playoffs to 36.0 percent and has oftentimes looked unplayable due to his lack of production on the offensive side, but he still ranks atop the best plus-minus in the playoffs with a +86.
During Celtics Media Day, Hauser shared that he rewatched some of his highlights to help him re-find his shooting rhythm for the Finals and it seemed to have worked well for him.
Hauser finished Game 1 with a line of 8-points on 3-of-4 shooting overall while making both of his 3-point attempts, four rebounds, and an assist. He also played great defense, specifically on Luka Dončić, and he finished with the second-highest plus-minus of any player with a +17 in Game 1.
Everything seems to be clicking at the right time for the Celtics with Hauser finding his shooting and the return of Kristaps Porzingis all at the same time proved to be too much for Dallas to handle in Game 1.
Game 2 of the NBA Finals is on Sunday at 8:00 PM from Boston.
