Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Boston Celtics coach explains knee injury

Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla shared that he was coaching through the playoffs with a torn meniscus.

Mazzulla is proudly referred to as a psycho for his intensity, determination, and his mentality for greatness.

He holds his team accountable when mistakes and mental lapses occur, but he also does the same for himself- perhaps even more than he does the team.

Mazzulla studies and trains Jiu-Jitsu. He takes it very seriously and he uses it alternatively to discipline himself in the most brutal ways possible.

After the Celtics lost back-to-back games on the road in Atlanta late in March, Mazzulla took it to the matts, which he tore his knee along the process of teaching himself a lesson.

Mazzulla had to learn to walk slower and alter his movements to accommodate his knee and will need to get surgery in the offseason.

All of this helped Mazzulla focus more and he led his team to a championship.
