It took 16-years for the Boston Celtics to raise Banner 18, making it the second championship under the ownership group of Wyc Grousbeck, Steve Pagliuca, and the other share holders for the team.
After securing the 18th championship in team history, the most in the NBA, and while in the middle of the offseason and just starting free agency, it was announced that the ownership group will be selling the team.
Here is the statement from the team:

It seems like the ownership group will sell the rest of their shares until 2025 and Grousbeck will remain the Governor of the team until the second closing of the sale in 2028.
In simple terms, this will be about a four-year process that is starting immediately and leaves Grousbeck as the last remaining owner until the sale is complete in 2028.
The goal for this ownership group was always to raise Banner 18 and perhaps nothing more than that after purchasing the team in ‘02 and winning it all in ‘08.
With Boston operating as a second apron team and will hit the repeater tax next year, the tax bill they have coming their way is going to be huge.
At this point, it’s fair to say that the ownership group isn’t too excited about the bills that are coming to them one way or the other.
