The Boston Celtics will start the 2024-25 season with Media Day on Tuesday, as they prepare to go to Abu Dhabi for two preseason games with the Denver Nuggets.
Media Day is always fun. With the same team returning, and it’s a close knit group as is, it’s nice to catch up and check in with the team in the first media access of the year.
It’s been quite a busy summer for the Celtics after winning the championship. The team is up for sale, Jayson Tatum had a weird time at the Olympics, and Jaylen Brown was snubbed from the Olympic team for previous political battles with Nike.
The Celtics are bringing back 13 players from last year’s championship team. They drafted a first round pick in Baylor Scheierman for the first time in Brad Stevens’ tenure as president of basketball operations.
Boston also signed a handful of players to two-way contracts and Exhibit-10 deals ahead of training camp. JD Davison and Drew Peterson are returning on two-way contracts with rookie Anton Watson. Ron Harper Jr., Tristan Enaruna, Dmytro Skapintsev, and Lonnie Walker are all joining Boston on Exhibit-10 deals.
Here’s more news on the Celtics ahead of Media Day:
- Joe Mazzulla ranked 11th-best coach by CBS Sports.
- Kristaps Porzingis returned to Boston after spending a majority of the offseason in Latvia.
- Al Horford held a basketball camp on Sunday.
- Derrick White returned to the Auerbach Center to prepare for training camp.
- Jaylen Brown spent some time working out with Boston’s reserves, most of whom will be in Maine.
- What’s the plan for Lonnie Walker in Boston?
- In-Season Tournament schedule and information.
- End of summer schedule and Abu Dhabi preseason.
