Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Sam Hauser struggles, hits biggest shot for Celtics

On Friday night in Boston, the Celtics defeated the Brooklyn Nets in overtime. The comeback was slow and methodical, but Boston chipped away at it and got the job done, 108-104, in the extra period.

Sam Hauser was on the court to end the third quarter and then he played 10:58 in the fourth quarter despite a struggling shooting night. He was 1-of-9 shooting from behind the arc before he made the big shot.

Head coach Joe Mazzulla got everything he could out of Hauser, along with his teammates, believing and trusting that he will hit the shot they need him to.

Hauser displayed poor body language, putting his hands on his head after missing his eighth shot of the night from deep. This brought Jrue Holiday and Al Horford to his ear, telling him to keep his head up and keep shooting, instilling their trust in him.

Hauser would go on to hit the biggest shot of the night to give the Celtics a lead late in the 4Q. Jayson Tatum slapped Hauser on the chest after he hit the big shot from his pass.

Mazzulla then took Hauser out. He got what he needed. This is another example of Mazzulla understanding his team, trusting, and believing in his players.

Hauser finished the game with eight points on 3-of-11 shooting from the field and only 2-of-10 from behind the arc. He had four rebounds and three assists as well.
