The Boston Celtics (38-16) will host the San Antonio Spurs (23-28) on Wednesday before a much needed, and well deserved, All-Star break.
The team needs this break to get back on track with their health and to balance out the rest of the season. Only Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and JD Davison will be representing the Celtics at All-Star weekend.
Kristaps Porzingis, Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, and Payton Pritchard have all missed games for rest and/or injury management over the last couple of weeks.
It’s important for the Celtics to utilize this time wisely as they expect to have a strong finish to the regular season and a hopeful deep playoff run.
Here’s a look at the injury report for both teams:
Boston Celtics
- Jaylen Brown, OUT, right knee swelling.
- Torrey Craig, available , right ankle injury management.
- Jrue Holiday, OUT, right shoulder impingement.
- Xavier Tillman, OUT, left knee inflammation.
San Antonio Spurs
- Charles Bassey, OUT, knee injury.
- Riley Minix, OUT FOR SEASON, left shoulder torn labrum.
It’s worth mentioning that Tatum was on the injury report for Monday’s game in Miami, but he made the decision to play, as he often does. He said the plan is to find a game for him to rest occasionally throughout the season, but he’s a little “hard-headed” when it comes to resting vs playing.
That said, don’t be surprised if Tatum becomes a late addition to the injury report for tonight’s game. Keep in mind, he’ll be playing in the All-Star Game, so he’s not going go to have much of a rest period, so building time within the schedule is important during this second half of the regular season.
Tipoff from the TD Garden is at 7:00 PM.
