The Boston Celtics had both Jaylen Brown and Derrick White on the sidelines against the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday afternoon, leading to Jayson Tatum to carry the way for Boston en route to a 114-99 victory.
Tatum finished the game with 32-points (12-of-23 FG, 5-of-10 3PT), five rebounds, eight assists, and on block in 31-minutes on the court. It was the most points and assists since he made his return less than four weeks ago.
Tatum was dominant. He finished with the game-high in points (32), assists (8), 3-pointers (5), and total made baskets (12). After the game, Hornets head coach Charles Lee gave Tatum his flowers while also praising the rest of the team that he was once part of.
“I thought it [defense] held up well, give Tatum credit, he hit some tough shots. Give the rest of the team credit. We’ve tried to double-team him a couple times. When they were able to get it out to the other guys, you have to live with some of the plays that they’re going to make versus our scramble.”
The Celtics went on to finish the game shooting 51% from the field, 41% from behind the arc, and 73% on free throws.
Boston continues their four-game road trip this week on Monday in Atlanta, Wednesday in Miami, and Milwaukee on Friday.
