Jaylen Brown has been the ironman for the Boston Celtics this season. He’s played in 65-games and is likely going to finish with career-highs across the board in his tenth season with Boston.
After missing the last two games due to left Achilles tendinitis, Brown returned to the court on Monday in Atlanta, finishing with a near triple-double with a 29-points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists.
At the end of the third quarter, Brown appeared to be bothered by the injury, however, he stayed in the game and scored 14-points in the fourth quarter. Brown said he’ll be fine moving forward, he told reporters after the game.
“Nah, everybody’s dealing with something, just some soreness. Definitely want to make sure you stay healthy as much as possible and you don’t want to risk anything, but it’ll be fine going forward.”
After two days off, Brown acknowledged that he needs to regain his balance after uncharacteristically missing some easy shots, despite finishing with the game-high.
“I felt ok. I felt fine. I had a couple of plays where I took some hard falls, but overall I felt fine. I’m just trying to get my feet up under me and just maintain my balance and stuff like that. I feel like I missed a lot of easy shots at the rim. Uncharacteristic, but you shake it off and move on.”
Although Brown finished with 29-points, he struggled to find his shot. He missed six layups, six free throws, and six 3-pointers. In the fourth quarter, Brown missed multiple go-ahead baskets, which is why he wanted to take the blame for the loss.
Within the month of March, Brown has been on the injury report for an illness, a quad injury, a calf injury, and now Achilles tendinitis.
With only seven games remaining in the regular season, health is most important for the Celtics heading into the playoffs
