  • Boston Celtics: Anna Horford declares Celtics will win NBA Finals

Boston Celtics: Anna Horford declares Celtics will win NBA Finals

Boston Celtics veteran big man Al Horford is a fan favorite in Boston. During his time here, we’ve had the privilege of seeing most of his family around the TD Garden over the years, but no one more than his sister, Anna.

Anna is a fan of the Celtics in the sense that she supports them and wants them to succeed, but her true fandom lies with her brother, Al; wherever he goes, she will support and be part of that city’s fanbase.

Anna was recently on the Pro Fan Sports podcast, where she declared the Celtics are going to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals and advance to the NBA Finals after getting a good taste of it last year.

I hope Anna is right and I don’t think she’s too far off in her testimony.

  • Boston Celtics: Joe Mazzulla appreciates Tatum and Brown finding balance on the court

Boston Celtics: Joe Mazzulla appreciates Tatum and Brown finding balance on the court

The Boston Celtics defeated the Indiana Pacers on Friday night 95-120 in their first game back at the TD Garden after a two-week long road trip.

There was a sequence in the third quarter where the game was literally controlled by Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, as they added to their lead.

In a breakaway, Brown pushed a pass to Tatum for an easy layup. And then on the very next play, Tatum stole the inbound and passed to Brown, who hit a very deep 3-pointer to give Boston a double-digit lead.

Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla said after the game that Tatum and Brown are finding the right balance with each other on the court.

“I think they are both finding a great balance of being dominant players and being team players. I just think when they do that our team is different because of the depth we have and how much better they make the people around them. Right now they are very committed to being both. I want them to be that so I appreciate that.”

The Celtics need both Brown and Tatum to be on the same page to get back to the NBA Finals this season.

  • Boston Celtics: Jayson Tatum reads defense to get to the rim vs Indiana

Boston Celtics: Jayson Tatum reads defense to get to the rim vs Indiana

Jayson Tatum finished Friday night against the Pacers with 34-points on 13-of-24 shooting for the night, also adding seven rebounds and two assists, as the Boston Celtics defeated Indiana to the tune of a 25-point blowout victory.

Tatum, who’s been struggling to hit his 3-point shots since the All-Star break, connecting only 29.4 percent, was able to get into the restricted area and make 10-of-13 shots overall from that zone.

Here’s what Tatum said about attacking the paint against Indiana on Friday night.

“Just reading the defense, taking what they’re giving. Indiana, they’ve got Myles Turner, but they’re not like a big team, so just finding angle and trying to get to the rim.”

With Tatum struggling to connect from behind the arc, perhaps he should search to drive and attack rather than shoot the three-ball as often as he does every game, even if it means going against head coach Joe Mazzulla’s philosophy.

  • Boston Celtics: Marcus Smart says Isaiah Thomas was the ‘best trash-talker’ he’s ever been around

Boston Celtics: Marcus Smart says Isaiah Thomas was the ‘best trash-talker’ he’s ever been around

Marcus Smart and Isaiah Thomas were teammates for the better part of three years from 2015-17, as the Boston Celtics traded a first round pick for him to the Phoenix Suns.

Thomas went on to lead the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2016-17. He finished fifth in MVP voting for this season and finished second for the Sixth Man of the Year in 2014-15.

Thomas is now doing spot appearances with NBA TV, giving us all the pleasure of seeing him interview his former teammate in Smart, who shared a fun fact about Thomas.

In some of his recent Tweets and videos, Thomas suggests that he can still play and still wants to play. Nevertheless, it’s great to see him back on our screens in some sort of basketball capacity.

  • Boston Celtics: Jayson Tatum reassured Jaylen Brown that C’s need him to reach their goals

Boston Celtics: Jayson Tatum reassured Jaylen Brown that C’s need him to reach their goals

“Without him, we can’t reach our goals.”

The Boston Celtics superstar duo of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum is without a doubt the best tandem in the NBA and it’s been that way for a long time now.

Together, the Jay’s have led Boston to three appearances in the Eastern Conference Finals, advancing to the Finals once.

Recently, there were two interviews released from The New York Times and The Ringer in which Brown expressed some frustrations he’s having with the Celtics organization and the city.

It’s worth mentioning that The Ringer article took place in January and was released this pst week.

In the piece, Brown said he initiated a three-way call with Tatum and Brad Stevens to find the direction of the organization after seeing a picture posted of Tatum working out with Kevin Durant during trade rumors between Brown and KD.

During postgame at the TD Garden on Friday night, Tatum was asked what the conversation with Brown was like and what he said to him to make him feel better about the situation.

“Just reassuring the obvious, that we need him. He’s a big part of this team, this franchise, and without him we can’t reach our goals. So you guys know that, the world knows that, the team knows that we need him to be the best version of ourselves. So that’s all that we kind of talked about.”

Tatum’s right in the sense that everyone in the world knows the Celtics need both Brown and Tatum to reach their goals and be successful as a team.

To that, I’d say “actions speaks louder than words” and that head coach Joe Mazzulla needs to include Brown in more crunch-time, game-deciding moments.

The same can be said for Brad Stevens when it comes to making personnel decisions, if Tatum is involved, so should Brown.

Rob should be utilized as an accessory and not a necessity

Boston Celtics big man gamechanger Rob Williams will be coming off the bench for the second consecutive game.

Here’s what Rob said about it.

“Imma play whether I’m starting or coming off the bench. I don’t mean that cocky, but I mean that as whatever opportunity I’m given, Imma make the most of it”
