Boston Celtics first-year head coach Ime Udoka has transformed the Celtics into legitimate contenders in only his first season.
Udoka’s Celtics started off slow. With a 20-21 record at the halfway point of the season, it didn’t look like the Celtics would be able to climb out of the 11th place hole they dug themselves into.
Let it be known that the Celtics did just that. They dug themselves out.
They climbed the ladder in the East, going on a 31-10 tear to finish the season 51-31 to land the 2nd seed in the conference.
In doing so, the Celtics clinched the best record in league history for a team with an under .500 record at the halfway point of the season.
The Boston Celtics are now in a Game 7 in the Eastern Semifinals against the defending NBA champions on their home court at the Boston TD Garden.
I’d say Udoka and the Celtics turned out to be great. And so does Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green, who believes Udoka deserves more credit than he’s getting for the Celtics’ success.
