The Boston Celtics made it all the way to the NBA Finals and unfortunately experienced fatigue when they got there. Between Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown averaging over 33 minutes per game in the regular season and over 40 minutes per game in the playoffs, there’s no doubt these guys were exhausted when it mattered most.
Heading into the season, it was an organizational goal to keep the minutes of the core group down, although that’s easier said than done. We have Al Horford playing 31.6 minutes per game and Tatum refusing to sit out on load management days being suggested by the Celtics.
Here is an up to date look at the minutes played by the Celtics this season:
- Jayson Tatum: 36.9
- Jaylen Brown: 35.5
- Marcus Smart: 32.6
- Al Horford: 31.6
- Grant Williams: 28.3
- Derrick White: 26.2
- Malcolm Brogdon: 22.7
- Sam Hauser: 16.7
- Luke Kornet: 12.7
- Blake Griffin: 11.1
- Payton Pritchard: 10.9
- Noah Vonleh: 10.1
- Justin Jackson: 5
- JD Davison: 2.7
We’ll continue to track the Celtics’ minutes as the season progresses.
