The timetable was uncertain for Derrick White after he left Saturdayโs game in Charlotte with a left neck sprain, however he was elevated from the injury report and into the starting lineup for the Boston Celtics on Mondayโs MLK Day matinee.
White thrived for the Celtics on Monday, finishing the afternoon with 19-points and a game-high eight assists. He shot 5-for-11 from the floor, made three 3-pointers, and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
The Celtics are most successful when White scores the ball at every level on the court, which is what he did yesterday and throughout most of this recent seven-game winning streak.
Itโs especially important for White to be playing well during this window of uncertainty in a return date of Jaylen Brown.
White is arguably the best on the team at knowing when itโs his time. Heโs said it perfectly on multiple occasions this season: โI ride the wave of the game.โ
The Celtics host the Warriors on Thursday night at 7:30 PM.
