The Boston Celtics are likely not going to pursue veteran big man Jakob Poeltl after the San Antonio Spurs have requested two first-round draft picks in return for Poeltl, which is an asking price that’s too high for Boston.
Poeltl has become a hot commodity around the NBA for teams in the market for a veteran big man who’s consistent on both ends of the court, which is a huge factor in San Antonio’s asking price.
It’s also worth mentioning that the Spurs aren’t in a rush to move Poeltl, nor do they want to unless it’s for future first-round draft capital, as the team still owns his bird rights should he hit restricted free agency this summer.
There’s multiple teams interested in Poeltl, like the Celtics and Toronto Raptors, where the reports are that they’ve shown interest in trading for him.
He’s averaging 12.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game this season.
