Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens joined the NBC Sports Boston pregame crew ahead of hosting the Golden State Warriors for the first time since the NBA Finals.
Stevens has always been a straight shooter, not giving the runaround and will always give you his honest opinion. That said, Stevens was asked about the utilization of Rob Williams and this is what he said.
“It’s a long game. That’s the bottom line. He won’t hit 30 [minutes] often right now. He’s not ready to play 30 minutes of NBA basketball just getting back right now.”
Stevens goes on to say that it’s a collective decision between Rob and the medical staff, along with the sports scientists working with the team on this.
There will be opportunity for Rob’s minutes to increase, but it’ll only happen when he’s ready, and for now, he’s thriving in the way he’s being used at the moment.
