The Boston Celtics could use just a little bit of everything right about now. With injuries to a handful of essential players, the amount of depth this team was credited for all season is now in question.
Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes wrote that the Celtics are looking to add “injury insurance” behind Al Horford and Rob Williams.
Although the center position could use some revamping, adequate wing depth to relieve Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown also seems necessary.
The Celtics have already let their $6.9 million Juancho Hernangomez TPE expire, which was the largest in Boston’s arsenal. They still have the $5.89 million TPE from Dennis Schroder to play with.
There’s rumors that’ve linked the Celtics to targeting Jakob Poeltl from the San Antonio Spurs, but the asking price of two first round draft picks is a little steep, not to mention he’s a free agent after the season, essentially making this a rental.
If there’s a move to be made, it’ll probably take place in the buyout market for the Celtics this season.
