The Boston Celtics almost left Milwaukee with their fifth straight win, despite being without four starters on Tuesday night’s overtime thriller, losing 131-125.
To start, Joe Mazzulla had to alter his starting lineup due to being shorthanded. He elected to have Robert Williams come off the bench with Malcolm Brogdon to provide energy for the second unit.
Rob only played 13 minutes, scoring six points and grabbed five rebounds off the bench, as Mike Muscala got the start in this game.
The bench as a whole scored 38 points, which isn’t terrible, however it wasn’t enough to push the Celtics over Milwaukee.
Derrick White continues to shine for Boston during this time the team is shorthanded. He’s carrying the team, scored 27 points on another big night for the combo-guard.
Boston relied heavily on their 3-pointers once again as they went 17-for-50 after hitting at least 20 in each of their last two games.
Before the game, coach Mazzulla told NBC Sports Boston’s Abby Chin that his team will have enough players to get the job done, not allowing being shorthanded to be a factor in the game.
In all, it was impressive to see the Celtics depth take the Bucks into overtime and essentially almost steal a win on a night Boston is missing four starters.
