Boston Celtics superstar Jaylen Brown is highly respected around the NBA. He’s vice president of the NBAPA and is a guy that everyone wants on their team.
During a postgame interview with NBC Sports Boston Celtics reporter Abby Chin, Brown tells her he was disrespected harshly by fans while entering the arena before the game.
Here are the two questions and responses that stood out to me, in what was a job well done by Abby, who’s one of the best in the business at what she does.
Abby: They all count as one, but in this rivalry is it any sweeter winning in Philly?
Brown: Uhh, not really. I just look at it as each and every game you take with a grain of salt and I’m sure we’ll see them down the line. So just be ready. It’s fun playing here. The crowd was a little bit hostile for moments. There was people on the sides talking crazy but we persevere, make some plays and get the win.
Abby: Do you enjoy that?
Brown: It depends. I started talking to one of the fans who was a little bit excessive, a little disrespectful, you know, stuff like that. Even before the game, entering the arena there’s people saying ‘I hope you tear your ACL’ and I understand people care and love the team they cheer for but I think it gets a little excessive at times.
This was the 61st game and it turned into a playoff atmosphere from tipoff. Brown felt it quickly but used it as fuel by scoring a team-high 26-points.
The Celtics and 76ers play one more time in the regular season, in Philadelphia on Apr. 4 in what will be the final away game of the regular season for Boston.
