Boston Celtics defnesive star Marcus Smart is not shy about expressing his opinions to the referees in the heat of the moment in a game or about the officiating after the game during his postgame press conferences.

This time around, however, Smart deferred to Fred VanVleet, who recently sounded off on the officiating in the NBA.

Smart is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and has finally almost mastered the art of NBA officiating. But with a never-ending style of officiating, it’s becoming more challenging for players to understand how the flow of a game will be called.
