Opening Up The Files On The Boston Celtics

Heat forward Caleb Martin feels ‘disrespected’ by the Celtics

The Celtics lost Game 1 of the ECF, but it’s Heat forward Caleb Martin who feels “disrespected” by the Celtics for defending off of him in Game 1 to better support their defense in other areas.

By doing this, Martin was essentially left open more often than not and with space around him to work the floor. He recorded 15-points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field and 3-of-7 shooting from deep in 30 minutes off the bench.

“It’s definitely a sign of disrespect. But people have game plans and schemes, and you live with the result. So that’s just part of their scheme and part of my scheme is being confident and letting it go. They adjust and I adjust to the adjustments.”

Martin looks at this as disrespect, however, it’s just the Celtics experimenting to see if Martin can hit the shots Miami needs him to if Boston is able to limit Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo offensively.

In the regular season, Martin is a career 36 percent shooter from behind the arc. In the playoffs this year, he’s shooting 39.2 percent from deep.

It’s fair to say that the game plan for Game 2 could be different for the Celtics in regards to Martin. It depends how Boston plans to attack Butler and Adebayo and if they’re willing to live with Martin beating them in order to limit Butler and Adebayo.

Game 2 is tonight at the TD Garden at 8:30 PM.
